BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- There was a summer celebration on the North side of Binghamton. The Northside Assembly along with Citizen Action of New York held an event at the Northside Farmer's Market.

It's something that's taken place each of the last four years. Local residents had a chance to sample fresh fruits and vegetables grown at local farms.

The goal is to spread awareness and provide the community easy access to fresh fruits and vegetables.

"We're trying to service the people living in the area, but also people on their way home from work and pick up something for dinner, shoppers going by business people, so yea please stop down and support the market,” said Janet McHenry, Northside Assembly Committee member.

The Northside Farmer's Market is held every Wednesday at West State Street. It runs until mid-October.
