ENDICOTT, N.Y. -- A Southern Tier organization donates nearly $150,000 to local charities.
Wendy's Walk for Kids presented three, $12,000 checks to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Binghamton, Western Broome, and Tioga County. The organization then presented checks for $36,000 to both the Magic Paintbrush Project and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. And finally, a $37,000 check was presented to the Discovery Center.
All told, Wendy’s Walk for Kids has raised over $150,000 throughout the past year. Money that local businesses helped raise despite their struggles dealing with the flood.
Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Trustee Jeff Coghlan said, “The Wendy’s Walk for Kids this year Partnered with the Binghamton Senators, was the recipient of their big fundraiser, the golf tournament. I don't know if you've heard the story but one of the things that happened after the flood was that I know that the leaders of the walk gave the opportunity for all the sponsors the opportunity to quietly back out because everyone was impacted so much. And every single one of them to the best of my knowledge, stayed."
Next year Wendy's Walk will be raising money for Make a Wish Foundation of Central New York, YMCA of Broome County, Catholic Charities, as well as their yearly staple the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
