VESTAL, N.Y. -- A pair of Binghamton University brothers is being credited with saving the life a woman who almost drowned.
Jedidiah and William Lemen are both freshmen at BU, where Jed is a member of the university's baseball team. They were driving along a slick, snowy road in Mumford, New York about half an hour from Rochester when they saw a car overturned in a creek. A 19-year-old girl was inside and with the water level from the creek was quickly rising, the girl was unable to open a car door to get out.
"We first thought there's no way someone is in there," William Lemen recalled. "Jed, he yelled out whether anyone was in there she was just yelling and screaming, so from there we just jumped in the water."
The brothers where able to partially pry the door open and keep the teen's head above water until emergency officials arrived and were able to hoist the car and get her out.
