ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Prosecutors claim the gunfire that killed a Syracuse toddler last year stemmed from a street gang feud more than a decade old.
The Post-Standard reports that Onondaga County prosecutors are asking the jury in the upcoming murder trial of Saquan Evans to remember the city's gang troubles.
The prosecutors say last November, Evans killed 20-month-old Rashaad Walker Jr. when he fired shots into the back of a minivan on Coolidge Avenue in an attempt to avenge another gang-related shooting. Authorities say the shooting resulted from a longtime feud between two street gangs dating back to 1997.
Evans' trial is scheduled to begin in December.
