SENECA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Four Seneca County teens are in custody in connection with a crime spree that led investigators from New York to South Carolina. The sheriff's office said the group is responsible for the theft of a school bus, a burglary at a local business, and a home invasion in the Southern Tier.

Authorities said it all began when Alexander VanVleet, 19, Adam Campbell, 19, Sarah Smith, 17, and a 15-year-old juvenile stole a South Seneca school bus on February 19th. The bus was later found vandalized and crashed on County Road 131.

A few days later, authorities said the group broke into a liquor store in Ovid.

Then last Friday, investigators said the teens entered a home in the Town of Erwin, tied up two elderly people, and stole money and the couple's car.

Police soon learned that the group was headed to South Carolina with the help of a family member. Authorities there spotted the stolen vehicle and took all four suspects into custody following a high speed chase.

They will now be returned to Seneca County to face charges.
