OAK CREEK, Wis. -- Seven people are dead, and three are wounded following a shooting at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Police said shooting happened around 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. When the first officer arrived, the suspect began shooting at the officers, hitting one.

"An officer arrived on the scene, he engaged an active shooter. That officer was shot multiple times. He had been transported to a local hospital. He is expected to survive. That officer returned fire, and that shooter was put down," said Chief Brad Wentland Greenfield, Wisconsin Police.

Officials said that the FBI was investigating the case, and is considering the shooting domestic terrorism. President Obama released a statement following the shooting, saying, "Michelle and I were deeply saddened to learn of the shooting that tragically took so many lives in Wisconsin. At this difficult time, the people of Oak Creek must know that the American people have them in our thoughts and prayers, and our hearts go out to the families and friends of those who were killed and wounded."
