SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A 21-year-old Syracuse man has been indicted on murder charges in the shooting death of a 20-month-old boy on Syracuse's southside.
Investigators claim Saquan Evans was planning to shoot Rashaad Walker Senior in a drive-by along Coolidge Avenue. He missed the older Walker, but fatally wounded the man's 20-month old son, Raashad Walker Junior.
As pictures of Evans were circulated in the media, witnesses have now come forward tying him to at least one other crime.
"An assault on Sunday, November the 7th, 2010 at about 8 o'clock. There were four individuals, excuse me, five individuals, in a garage at 521 Shirley Drive. Mr. Evans has now been arraigned again this morning on a sealed indictment with 4 counts of attempted murder in the second degree, 4 counts of assault-second and criminal possession of a weapon," said District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick.
Evans, recently freed from prison, was wearing an ankle bracelet at the time of that shooting. Electronic evidence from that device also tied him to the scene.
