CORNING, N.Y. -- Students in Corning celebrated Flag Day with a special flag hand-delivered by Congressman Tom Reed.

Reed stopped by Hugh Gregg Elementary School to present the flag, which was flown over the U.S. Capitol. Students also sang patriotic songs and dressed in red, white and blue to celebrate what Flag Day means for their country. They say meeting Congressman Reed was exciting.

"I think that's really special that Gregg School one got to meet the Congressman and also got a really special flag to be hung right next to it," said fifth grader Kerigan Sterlace.

"Wanted to come this morning to present it to them officially and boy, just seeing all the faces and the smiles just makes it all worthwhile," said Congressman Tom Reed from the 29th Congressional District.

Reed will remain in the area this weekend, holding town hall meetings in Catlin and Campbell.
