CORNING, N.Y. -- Incumbent Congressman Tom Reed declared victory Tuesday night in his bid for the newly formed 23rd Congressional District.
The numbers show a narrow two percentage point lead over Democratic challenger Nate Shinagawa.
During Reed's victory speech, he thanked his family, friends and supporters through the months of campaigning.
When Reed heads back to Washington, he wants to focus on getting the country back on track for his constituents.
"To have that bipartisan reputation in Washington because we have to solve these problems. The problems that face America be that our jobs crisis, getting people back to work in the private sector, be at the fiscal crisis, the debt crisis, we have to solve them," said Congressman Tom Reed.
