CORNING, N.Y. -- Corning Incorporated saw its best quarterly sales results in company history last month. Fourth quarter sales in 2012 reached $2.15 billion. That's a 14 percent increase compared to the same quarter in 2011.
The company says the Display Technologies division saw the most growth in sales, earning $800 million.
"The fourth quarter was a good quarter for us. Volumes were up in the mid single digits. Of course a lot of that has to do with what happens to consumers in the fourth quarter in terms of the holiday season, the buying of TVs. In the U.S., the Super Bowl and in Asia, the Chinese New Year. All of those positively impact our business," said Tony Tripeny, Corning Incorporated Senior Vice President.
Tripeny says there is a lot of excitement about 2013. They expect to see more growth in their telecom, specialty, live sciences and environmental businesses.
