ALBANY, N.Y. -- We're hearing more about who the newest member will be for the Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE).
Sources tell Capital Tonight that LaShann DeArcy will take the place of Ravi Batra. An official announcement could come as early as today.
Batra resigned last month claiming the commission wasn't acting independently, but instead acting on Governor Cuomo's wishes.
DeArcy would be appointed by Senate Minority Leader John Sampson. DeArcy is a litigator and is on the board of New York City's Taxi and Livery Commission.
JCOPE is currently reviewing the investigation of the Vito Lopez sexual harassment scandal and the more than $130,000 of confidential settlement money approved by Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver.
