BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- BU track star Erik van Ingen joked the only citation he was used to were parking ones. A different type of citation from the Broome County Executive declared March 30th Erik van Ingen Day.

It's been about two-and-a-half weeks since the indoor track season ended and the awards keep rolling in for BU track star Erik van Ingen. It was announced the same time Van Ingen's all-American photo was unveiled at BU's Events Center.

The Bearcat senior is the seventh division I all-American athlete in school history. Van Ingen earned the accolade after finishing in fifth place in the men's mile run at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

After narrowly missing all-American honors in 2010, Van Ingen says the accomplishment is finally starting to sink in.

Van Ingen is now looking to bring the same success to the upcoming outdoor season. He's now one of two BU track athletes to be named all-Americans, the other being pole vaulter Rory Quiller.
