Name: Sharon BuMann

Occupation:Professional Sculptor

Bio:
I am a professional sculptor (a job not readily recognized in these parts, or anywhere for that matter). It is a pretty physically demanding vocation and as the blog progresses I will share some elements for your entertainment; However, the muscles used sometimes become somewhat limited, and you get muscle bound in places you really do not want to be. ANNNNNND moving into my sixth decade my "factory parts" were beginning to show some wear.

None the less, the onus of living with and being around athletically minded folks the majority of my life took hold. I had get INTO and STAY in better physical condition to continue in my life and career. It has been a wonderful journey that truly began last year when I was "forced" to sign up with "Fleet Feet Training" in order to get a spot for the 2011 Iron Girl. ( I had made a half heartedly attempt to do it the year before and was "locked out" and now I realize, THAT was a good thing!).The concept of preparing and doing an Iron Girl was based mainly on the fact it makes you condition and use your entire body. My inspiration came from a multitude of sources! One being the love of my life, another, a woman in her 70's who had just completed an Iron Girl (who had been doing them for over 20 years)!

As she spoke I found myself doing the math in my head... SHE was about my age when she started! Soooooooooooooo, I joined the training group and will be forever thankful for having that opportunity. The people I have met, and gotten to know have made the adventure of reclaiming my youth all the better. This year I am again training with FLEET FEET and have signed up to do the Oswego Sprint, the IronGirl and a relay team for the Jamesville 70.3. NOW... the matter of finding the time to get going!
