BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- In a little less than two months, Greater Binghamton will once again celebrate its favorite culinary creation.

Organizers made the official announcement Wednesday for this year's Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally. It's the 28th year for the festival and it will be held August 3rd through the 5th.

As always, the spiedie cooking contest and hot air balloon launch will take place at Otsiningo Park during the three day event and organizers are calling the entertainment line-up the "best" they've ever had, with musical groups .38 Special, Karmin and Lonestar all performing.

A big turnout is expected, as many people are considering staying close to home this summer.

"A lot of people in Broome County are going to be doing 'staycations,' which means a lot of people are going to be home and not being able to go on vacation, because of the flood, the devastation and what's going on in our community here, so we're going to be a lot of people's vacation this summer," said Spiedie Fest Coordinator Dave Pessagno.

If you plan on going, you'll need a Spiedie Fest button to get in. They're $15 apiece until July 5th. After that, the price is $20 per button.
