CHITTENANGO, N.Y. -- Another local employer is joining an initiative to help get young U.S. Army veterans into the workforce. It's called Partnership for Youth Success, or the PaYS program.
Syracuse-based Coyne Textile Services is the latest company to join the program, which guarantees veterans an interview with a company in the industry of their choice.
The U.S. Army Syracuse Recruiting Battalion held a signing ceremony Thursday to thank the company for the commitment and also to bring attention to the PaYS program.
Coyne officials say the program is a win-win for both employers and the veterans.
"A lot of people we get today have no disciple at all. Well, I know that if I get a guy out of the Army, that he’s been disciplined, he’s probably got some integrity and he’s probably honest. So why shouldn’t I hire him?" said Tommy Coyne, Coyne Textile Services Board Chairman.
As of right now, more than 300 employers are participating in the program across the nation, with many also hiring in Central New York.
