Burglary spree

Burglary spree
Tony Williams woke up early Wednesday to find a teen in his kitchen, stealing prescription drugs from the cabinet.

"We heard a cupboard door open in the kitchen, and I came to inspect it, thinking it was one of my daughters trying to get something at five o'clock. Low and behold, it was a person in my house," Williams said.

Williams chased the boy into the garage and held him until police arrived.

Police say the teen also broke into several vehicles. Rene Breault's registration, insurance card, and owner's manual were taken from his truck. Those items were recovered and will be returned to him. In the meantime, he says he's going to change his habits.

"I'm going to start locking up my vehicle, that's for sure and lock up the house a lot tighter," Breault said.

Others say they'll keep doing what they've always done.

"There's not much else I can do differently because I have everything locked as it is," said homeowner Pauline DeLair.

A few weeks ago a car was stolen and later recovered in Alexandria Bay, and a business owner had his truck windows smashed out. This leaves many neighbors wondering if all of the incidents are connected.

"It's a little town. You wouldn't think we would have to worry, but times have changed," said Wayne Oxley, a business owner.

The charges will be handled by the probation department and family court.
