The third day of jury selection in the Wayne Oxley murder trial got off to a slow start, but by the end of the day Thursday, all 12 jurors were seated.

Oxley, 40, of Ogdensburg, faces second degree murder charges in the beating death of his neighbor, Bernard Trickey.

During the jury selection, Judge Jerome Richards announced a name was missing from the witness list he had read to potential jurors this week. And, when the nine jurors already selected were asked if they knew the witness, one was immediately dismissed and another questioned.

The judge said as many as 86 witnesses may take the stand over a potential period of four weeks. The defense attorney said it's all part of the process to get a fair and impartial jury.

"In a murder trial, there are many unexpected things that happen. To have something go into the third day, to have jury selection go into the third day, definitely not out of the ordinary," Defense Attorney Richard Manning said.

Four alternate jurors will be seated Friday.
