14-year-old neighbor testifies in Oxley trial
Wayne Oxley's murder trial is now into its third week. One of the people taking the stand was the 14-year-old son of a deceased key witness.
Oxley, 40, of Ogdensburg is accused of killing his neighbor Bernard Trickey with a baseball bat in August 2005.
Billy Joe Shannon, whose dad John Shannon lived across the street from Oxley, said his father had a key to Oxley's home, but not after Spring 2005. But the defense attorney said the witnesses father was in possession of the key at the time of the murder.
Defense attorney Richard Manning said, "I have witnesses that told me they saw him coming out of Oxley's house in July and August of 2005 when Mr. Oxley was not there. Billy Joe just didn't remember. I'm not going to make any comment on his credibility, that's for the jury to decide."
John Shannon died in a suspicious house fire one month after Trickey was killed.
