BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- A special Valentine's Day message for state legislators, one that urges lawmakers to reject Governor Cuomo's proposed $1.5 billion in school cuts.

Sponsored by Citizen Action of New York and various other groups, dozens of parents, students and other community members came together at the state building in Binghamton to make their voices heard.

Hundreds of hand written Valentines urged lawmakers to reject the cuts will be sent to the governor and state legislators.

"I hope the Valentines that are sent to the legislators will let them know how much the community, people, parents, grandparents, students. How much they care and how much it will affect them in their early childhood programs, in their arts, in their modified sports in their after school programs," said Kathleen Hull, Citizen Action of New York board member.

Under the proposed cuts, Broome County stands to lose nearly $30 million in education funding.
