ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A fundraiser was held in honor of slain Oneida County Deputy Kurt Wyman Saturday.
Groups of sportsmen and women teamed up for the first annual Memorial Sporting Clay Benefit Challenge, held at the Vernon National Shooting Preserve.
Each competitor paid $100 for a go at each of the 13 sponsored shooting stations on the course. Each sponsor also donated $100 for having a station there.
Family of Deputy Wyman also took part in the competition, saying days spent in the company of friends like this allow the good memories to come through.
"We like to talk and reminisce about the silly and stupid things Kurt's done in the past. He was a big joker. He liked to get on ya and you remember those times. You know a lot of people have been sharing those, which is good. That helps, sharing those fun times," said Wyman's father, Brian Wyman.
A portion of the proceeds will go the Deputy Kurt Wyman Fund.
