SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Police release new information in the police-involved shooting at the Schenectady Daily Gazette newspaper this past weekend.
Police have now charged Elvis Norwood, 21, in the incident. Norwood is charged with burglary, attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, menacing a police officer, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said Norwood walked into the offices of the Gazette Saturday afternoon, showed a knife and refused to leave.
Schenectady police believe Norwood was suicidal when he entered the building. Norwood was shot several times by police, after they said he refused to put the knife down.
Norwood is recovering at Albany Medical Center, where he's listed in stable condition. He will be arraigned at the hospital by a Schenectady City Criminal Judge.
