UTICA, N.Y. -- It now looks like the trial of the man accused of fatally shooting an Oneida County Sheriff's deputy this summer won't take place until after the new year.

First Assistant District Attorney Mike Coluzza says Christian Patterson waived his right to a Huntley Hearing that would've determined whether statements he made to police could be used in court.

Patterson faces several charges, including aggravated murder, in the death of Deputy Kurt Wyman following a stand-off in June.

He's due back in court December 5th when a judge is expected to officially set a trial date for sometime in late January.
