Residents return home after gas line rupture
STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. -- Residents are back in their homes after they were evacuated when a gas line ruptured in the town of Woodhull.
Officials said the Dominion Transmission company reported a valve failure in their Woodhull storage field around 8 p.m. Friday. They said a small amount of natural gas was released due to the failure.
Thirteen fire crews, and five other emergency responders were called in. Dominion officials were able to contain the rupture before it caused any fires or injuries.
By 11 p.m. Friday, the ruptured line was shut down and residents were allowed to return to their homes.
