BIG FLATS, N.Y. -- The investigation continues into an incident that forced the evacuation of Corning Incorporated's plant in Big Flats.

Employees were evacuated around 4:30 p.m. Thursday when a company spokesperson says three employees were exposed to a vapor in a contained room at the Innovation Support Center. Two were treated at the scene and taken to the hospital for observation. The third declined treatment.

Fire officials say the chemical was a highly flammable inhalation hazard.

Corning Inc's emergency response team, the Big Flats Fire Department and Elmira Hazmat team assessed the building.

Employees were let back in an hour later.
