BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- Preparations are underway for the biggest Fourth of July celebration in Broome County.
Event organizers, volunteers and vendors converged on Highland Park in Endwell Tuesday to set up the annual Fourth of July Extravaganza. Thousands will attend the Independence Day event, taking part in fun activities, food, music and of course, fireworks.
A committee has spent the past four months planning the event and organizers say this year will offer even more than in years past.
Jeff Smith of the event planning team said, "We have a lot more exhibits. The National Guard will have their climbing wall. We have four bands. We have two one hour slots of Irish dancers. The U.S. Marine Corps will be here. We'll have 28 vendors and the food selections will be much greater than they have been in recent years."
Activities will kick off at 7 a.m. with a micro triathlon and end after 9:30 p.m. with the grand fireworks display.
