Natural gas company cleans up acid spill
BRADFORD COUNTY, Pa. -- A natural gas drilling company says they are almost done cleaning up a spill of highly corrosive acid in Bradford County. A spokesperson for Chief Oil and Gas says 4,700 gallons of hydrochloric acid spilled on July 4th at their Yoder well site in Leroy Township.
The company says only about 50 gallons made it past the initial containment area and sediment pond. There is no evidence any of the acid entered nearby Towanda Creek. They say a valve on the back of a tanker may have been left partially open. They say there was no safety issue.
