Man possibly on bath salts barricades himself in Ilion home

Another incident involving a person possibly under the influence of Bath Salts. This time in the Village of Ilion. YNN's Erin Clarke was at the scene.

ILION, N.Y. -- Folks on East Main Street in Ilion found themselves in the middle of a standoff Sunday.

"We came out on the porch and they told us pretty much to get back inside and they stood here on the porch for a while," said Andrew Warner.

Andrew Warner's 24-year-old neighbor barricaded himself inside of 114 East Main Street with a gun saying he would harm himself and anyone else who tried to enter the home Police say he may have been under the influence of bath salts.

"They blocked down the street and they sat on the porch and were over here out by the other porch just keeping an eye out," said Warner.

Another neighbor sent us these pictures, taken through his window while a Special Response Team and other local officers with guns drawn prowled the property .

The incident lasted about four hours and police say this time it ended safely.

"The subject came out of his residence and the resolution was a good one and no one was injured or hurt," said Ilion Police Chief Timothy Parisi.

The man, said to be acting despondently was transported to Saint Luke's Hospital in Utica.
His name is not being released at this time.
