AUBURN, N.Y. -- Auburn Community Hospital is cutting back on staff and its number of beds. The hospital has seen a decrease in the number of patients needing in-patient care, which has resulted in financial losses.
Due to that, Monday they announced the closure of the 4 Central Nursing Unit. About 25 employees, from nursing, housekeeping, coding and billing and management will be affected.
Auburn officials hope the layoffs are only temporary. They say if they see improvements in the months ahead, staffing will be restored to previous levels.
