WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- The Watertown Urban Mission helped hundreds of students get supplies for the last school year, and now it's hoping to do the same for the upcoming year. The mission holding a backpack and school supply drive at its Factory Street building.
The hope is that people will donate new or gently used backpacks, and things like pens, pencils, and notebooks. The goal is to present a backpack and supplies to more than 850 students.
"There's been many more demands put on families. School supply lists continue to grow, and it's a struggle. We want to ensure these children all have equal footing among their classmates," explained Erika Flint, Urban Mission Executive Director.
People are encouraged to drop off any supplies or a backpack to the Urban Mission's drop off zone behind the Factory Street building.
