CICERO, N.Y. - No team from Central New York has ever made it to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., but a group of Cicero all-stars is hoping to change that.
The group of players, ages 11 and 12, is one of just six teams in the state still alive heading into the state tournament, which begins Wednesday in Rocky Point on Long Island. If it can win the six-team state tournament and then the six-team Mid-Atlantic Regional tournament it will earn a coveted berth in the World Series, which is truly a "world" event with teams from across the globe vying for the championship.
*Correction to the video story: Cicero has made the state tournament before, in 2008, but winning it would be a first.
