BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- A Binghamton tradition continues for its 17th year as Hands of Hope Ministries prepares with other organizers for the annual National Night Out.
The crime prevention event is coming up next Tuesday. It's part of a nationwide program spanning more than 15,000 communities.
In Binghamton, residents can expect free food, games and other activities in seven different locations across the city.
Organizers gear the festivities around getting to know your neighbors, your public servants and taking steps to prevent crime.
"The spirit behind National Night Out is that when you hurt, I hurt. When you have a problem, I have a problem. And it will take all of us together to solve these problems," said event organizer Rev. Henry Ausby.
While nationally the theme is "Giving Crime A Going Away Party,” Binghamton has chosen a second theme of "Rebounding Together."
