Playing in a championships game is a dream for all little league players,and for the Cicero 11-year-old All-Star team, that dream is about to come true. The team will be heading out to the New York State Little League Championship this weekend. Our Katie Gibas caught up with players at their practice Wednesday and tells us how they're preparing for the tournament.

ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- These Cicero 11-year-olds didn't get the designation of all-stars for nothing. They practice several times a week, for a couple hours at a time.

"It's tiring, but if you work hard, you'll play good. It's been great. We keep working hard. We're going a long way because we're a good team," said Justin DelVecchio, a Cicero Little League 11-year-old All-Stars pitcher.

And that hard work has paid off.

"This team is the first from Cicero ever to win the 10-year-old all-stars last year. It's the first team from Cicero ever to win the 11-year-old all-stars this year," said Wayne Cummings, the Cicero Little League 11-year-old All-Stars Manager.

The Cicero 11-year-old all-stars won districts and sectionals earlier this summer. Now they'll be heading to the Bronx to compete in the New York State Little League Championship. They'll play against five other teams for their age group title.

"I think we're going to do pretty good and go pretty far in the tournament. We have a pretty good team. We keep our heads in the game and never let ourselves down," said Zachary Emm, a Cicero Little League 11-year-old All-Stars pitcher.

DelVecchio added, "It's going to be fun because it's in the Bronx and that's a great place. And I think we'll do pretty good because we're a great team.”

The team will be heading down to the Bronx on Saturday where they'll be playing a number of games to determine the championship winner.

"We wanted to win districts. Sectional Championship was beyond what we thought and now this is gravy. It's great for me. But for the most part, it's something that all these kids dream about as children and I think it means so much more for them," said Cummings.

The team will be selling candy at the Cicero Wal-Mart Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. to raise money to help pay for the trip. Their first game is Sunday.
