Possible tornado reported in Sidney
SIDNEY, N.Y. -- The National Weather Service will be sending crews to Sidney Monday to investigate reports of a possible tornado.
Four people reported seeing a funnel cloud form about a mile from the Sidney Airport Sunday just after 6 p.m. Sidney's fire chief was out surveying the damage Sunday night. He says the area that was hit worst lies between county Road 4 and Interstate 88. However there are no homes on that section of land and no injuries were reported.
The highway itself was not damaged but County Road 4 has been shut down at both ends due to downed trees and power lines. Crews are expected to resume their cleanup efforts Monday.
