NEW YORK -- More good news on tap for the state's small craft brewers.
Weeks after Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a law that, in part, eases the tax burden on beer makers, he approved a second one that will let them get out of unfavorable partnerships.
The new legislation will make it easier for small brewers to end exclusive contracts with wholesalers who aren't properly promoting their brands.
A law passed in the late 1990s protected small wholesalers from having their contracts cancelled without reason by large breweries, but has since stunted the growth of smaller companies.
The new regulation affects breweries who make fewer than 300,000 barrels of beer per year, like Utica's F.X. Matt Brewing Company.
