SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The federal lawsuit brought about by residents of a Pennsylvania town appears to be nearing a conclusion.
A group of residents in Dimock claim Texas-based Cabot Oil and Gas Corporation polluted their water supply with methane gas and toxic chemicals used in natural gas drilling back in 2009.
The drilling company denied those claims and federal environmental regulators say they tested the water and found it safe to drink.
According to court documents, Cabot offered to settle the case in May and June and this week papers were filed indicating residents agreed to a confidential settlement.
