ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Two months after launching daily flights from Elmira to New York City, Delta has decided to suspend its service at the Elmira/Corning Regional Airport.

Officials say passenger loads on the flights from Elmira to JFK Airport averaged only 55 percent, while the rest of the flights were close to 90. They had hoped that the additional flights would make New York City more accessible to Upstate residents and would bring tourism to the Finger Lakes region.

The flights from Elmira started on June 5th of this year and will be suspended on November 1st.
