UNION, N.Y. -- A lawsuit that could alter this November's ballot in the Town of Union has been put on hold.

The suit, filed by Republicans, questions a petition filed by two Democratic candidates for town council. If more than 51 of the 551 signatures in question are found invalid, candidates Bill Tastle and Frank Palmisano will be removed from the ballot.

Broome County Democratic Chairman Jim Testani says the judge handling the case has rescheduled the ruling from Wednesday, to September 4th, due to insufficient time and information.

Before the rescheduling, both parties were expecting a quick decision.
