UTICA, N.Y. -- Crews are investigating the cause of a gas spill discovered in Utica. Cleanup was going on Monday at the Nice-N-Easy gas station on the corner of Culver Avenue and Albany Street.
The Department of Environmental Conservation says the spill is believed to have happened sometime over the weekend and may have been the result of equipment failure.
A DEC spokesperson says gasoline did make it into the sewer system and high levels of gas were found at the wastewater treatment plant, where mitigation efforts were underway.
