BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two people were arrested after police found a stolen handgun following a traffic stop. The Broome County Sheriff's office arrested Sara Miller, 29, and Zachariah Ellis, 38, both of Binghamton, Monday in the town of Chenango.

After pulling the two over for using a cell phone while driving, Sheriff's deputies say they found a six inch knife in Ellis' possession and a loaded stolen handgun in the car's center console. Neither Miller nor Ellis had an explanation for the stolen gun.

Both were charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property, and sent to Broome County Sheriff’s Office Correctional facility.
