Man in custody after standoff
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A man is in custody following a standoff in Syracuse.
Police responded to a call of a man with a gun in the 800-block of Kirkpatrick Street around 11:30 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, officers located a man holding what appeared to be a rifle. The man then ran into a house at 808 Kirkpatrick Street.
His girlfriend came out of the home, telling police her two small children were inside with the suspect. After about 40 minutes, police were able to take the man into custody without further incident.
The children were unharmed, and the weapon was discovered to be a pellet gun.
Police are expected to release more information today.
