NEW YORK STATE FAIR -- For the first few days of the fair, it's been hard to avoid the heat. The sun is blazing and temperatures are expected to be in the upper 80s, lower 90s.

"I love the fair,” said Bailey Arlington, a Syracuse resident. “It is a hot day."

On days like these, medical personnel have some reminders for fairgoers who will spend a big part of their day walking outdoors. They urge you to take necessary precautions to avoid heat related illnesses.

"If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, getting in the shade, taking a seat, having a drink of water, probably a good first aid thing to do," said Jeremy Joslin, EMS Physician Response Team.

If you're feeling like you need professional attention, the infirmary is available to provide medical care. They've treated a number of people for heat related problems and it is staffed with doctors and nurses.

If you're looking to beat the heat, Trane Rental Services tent is the place to be. The temperature inside won't get above 75 degrees.

The booth offers portable cooling solutions, but as the mercury rose, people sought an immediate solution to the heat.

David Scott, a Trane Supply sales rep, said, "As the day heats up, it will certainly increase. People come and go in waves. We get a little more crowded as the day progresses. We've had a couple hundred people in the tent though."

Arlington said, "It's a nice luxury for any fairgoer, especially older people or younger kids. To come in or cool down."

Whether you're in the booth or grabbing some ice cold water, make sure to listen to your body and seek relief.
