Madison County Sheriff’s searching for man who attempted to rob grocery store

MADISON COUNTY, N.Y. -- Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man they say tried to rob a grocery store in Madison County. It happened at the Price Chopper on Route 12B just north of the Village of Hamilton.

Officials say a man demanded money from a clerk at knifepoint just before 4 a.m. Saturday. The clerk refused and yelled to a co-worker, at which point the suspect ran off.

The suspect is described as five-feet-nine-inches tall and between 20 and 25 years old. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Deputies are asking anyone who was in the area at the time to call the sheriff's office at (315) 366-2834, or submit a tip at madisoncountysheriff.us.
