BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- If you pass Broome Community College, you may have noticed a new building being built. It's all part of a project to enhance the educational programs at BCC.
The new building will house three departments of the college and enhance existing programs, like the Environmental Science program. It will also make space for a new Energy Processes program. There will be more lab and storage space and it will allow for students to do research in the field.
"We can enhance the field experience we're trying to incorporate field research into an undergraduate program, which will be a stronger bridge between a two year school and a traditional research four year university," said BCC Assistant Professor Kennie Leet.
Students who graduate from these programs can pursue jobs in the growing environmental economy.
The building is set to be complete by the fall of 2013.
