BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- You can run to stay fit, or on many weekends, run for a good cause. And in just a couple of weeks, you can run with a cape on too if you like.
ACCORD, which is a dispute resolution and advocacy group in Binghamton, is hosting its first ever Superhero Run this month. Reps from the agency promoted the run Tuesday, while speaking at the Binghamton Rotary Club.
Participants are encouraged to come dressed up as their favorite superhero. The event is designed to raise money for and help out those in the community who can't speak for themselves.
"It's to support abused and neglected children in the community who are languishing in foster care, so we kind of prevent these children from having to stay longer than they have to stay for," said Joy Lewis, ACCORD Outreach Specialist.
For those of you who need to get your tights, capes and masks dry cleaned, you still have a little time. The run is scheduled for Saturday, September 15th.
