CORNING, N.Y. -- Steuben County's Alternative School for Math and Science inaugurated its new 35,000 square foot facility.
Faculty, students and Corning Incorporated members helped welcome the new, state of the art building for the middle school students Friday. The building includes a new gymnasium, cafeteria and science rooms.
Administrators say the first few days of school were a big success.
"We had to pick their jaws up off the floor. They are just amazed, overwhelmed, thrilled to be here. They were launching helicopters in science class off of the atrium this afternoon and just ecstatic to be in such an amazing facility with opportunities that provides for their learning," said Kim Frock, the Administrative Head of School.
The building was donated and is owned by Corning Incorporated.
