ROME, N.Y. -- A new marketing campaign in Central New York is encouraging residents to buy local. CNY Fresh, the Flavors of Central New York, will bring a new image to local goods.
Farmers and producers will be able to label their products with the CNY Fresh logo at farmer's markets and in stores. Eight Central New York counties are involved in the program, including Broome, Chenango, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties. Local officials said this new program will help build awareness of all the products the region has to offer.
"I have people tell me from other parts of the state that they come to Central New York because we have such great produce because we have such great goods that get sold here and produced," said Anthony Picente, Oneida County Executive.
CNY Fresh will also provide a database on their new website of all the locally produced foods and farmer's markets throughout the eight counties.
