UNITED STATES -- A new Zogby International poll is out, giving President Obama a six point edge in the race for the White House. The poll shows Obama with 48 percent of the vote, compared to Mitt Romney's 42 percent.

Pollsters say the president received a bump from the Democratic National Convention, but he is not doing as well among young people as he needs to. Still, there's a long way to go and many things could impact the race.

"In a race that really is going to be close, at least for a while it's going to be close, anything that can move voters by the hundreds or thousands and in some key states is important," said John Zogby.

Zogby says social issues like abortion, contraception and gay marriage will play a large role in the last few months. He also says what happens in the Middle East could also weigh heavily on voters.
