NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. -- A New Hartford police officer was injured after he was hit by an alleged drunk driver in New Hartford. It happened on Seneca Turnpike in New Hartford just after midnight Friday morning.

Police say Patrick Sacco, 28, was on routine patrol when a car pulled in front of him, attempting to turn into the driveway of the Valley Brooke Lounge. Sacco was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital following a shoulder injury.

The other driver, Frank Caramadre, 22, was treated at the scene for a minor leg injury. He was charged with DWI and other vehicle and traffic violations.
