NORTH COUNTRY, N.Y. -- He visited Upstate New York earlier this year, trying to drum up support for Republican Congressional candidates and now House Majority Leader Eric Cantor will be back.

The Virginia Congressman will be in Watertown on Monday, October 8th to stump for North Country Congressional candidate Matt Doheny.

Some thought the Republicans may back off a major push for Doheny, who's trailing Democrat Bill Owens by 13 points, according to the latest Siena Poll. But this visit shows the GOP feels the race is much closer, with Cantor calling Doheny one of the republican's strongest prospects.

Cantor is expected to take a business tour with Doheny and then also attend a fundraising event.
