BATAVIA, N.Y. -- Chobani Yogurt has grown into the largest Greek yogurt manufacturer in New York State, but it looks like the Chenango County-based company has some competition on the way.

A South American yogurt maker is set to open shop in Western New York. Alpina Foods will hold a grand opening ceremony on Monday for its new Batavia facility. The manufacturer makes yogurt and other dairy-based products, and had global sales exceeding $800 million.
